Tue, 29 Dec 2015 19:12:00 +0000IMG_4499The world is a mess. We may feel called to step up to the plate to create change, but how? What is an “authentic calling” in an upside-down world? Is finding such a path more difficult in this radically shifting climate? Is it more essential? What role can mysticism and spirit play in helping us align to a higher calling?

Join Caroline Allen at Third Place Books on January 14 at 7 p.m. to celebrate the launch of her second book, Air, as she explores these questions through the lens of her own story and that of the heroine of her Elemental Journey series of novels.

Caroline has coached hundreds of people all over the world in finding meaningful spiritual and artistic paths, and after reading from Air, she’ll host a free presentation that will engage participants in exploring, excavating, and envisioning their purpose.

The Elemental Journey Series — Earth, Air, Fire and Water — is a heroine’s journey over four richly literary books, a finding of the self and true calling in a world gone awry. Earth, published by Booktrope Editions in February 2015, is set in rural Missouri; it explores relationships to family and the earth and our traditional sense of home. Air, the second in the series, wrestles with the theme of homelessness. Set in Japan in the late 80s, Air asks: Where, truly, is home? If true home is our deepest spiritual calling, how do we make our way there?

Caroline will share her personal journey to finding her calling, from international journalist to novelist, visual artist and coach. The four books are fictionalized versions of her own life: poverty on a subsistence farm in rural Missouri, a journalism career in a Tokyo newsroom during the death of Emperor Hirohito, across SE Asia as a travel writer, and as a London journalist during the death of Diana, and finally the mystical call that would change her life forever. Today she is a metaphysical coach, a book coach, novelist and a visual artist.  www.carolineallen.com
