Join us for one or both of the following workshops in Seattle in September! The Magic of the Artist and Write Out Loud!
The Magic of the Artist
Deep down you know you have a profound gift. You want to share it with the world. You’d like to be a full-fledged writer, artist, dancer, actor. Even when you’re on your path, you still need to fully own the power of your higher creative self.
Join us for a September workshop: The Magic of the Artist. We’ll work to own our artistic power and align ourselves with spiritual and archetypal energies that can boost our powers of manifestation. We’ll use this for the greatest and highest good for all.
Fantasize the life we want: Most of us imagine a too-small box for our lives. We’ll let the imagination soar. What kind of life do we really want? Do we dare imagine it in all its glory? If we can imagine it, we can make it happen.
Look at blocks. What’s stopping us and why.
Explore action steps: We won’t be looking at impossible steps, but simple actions we can take after the workshop.
Find support: The more we give of ourselves, the more we receive. We’ll support each other in the workshop in very specific ways.
This workshop is for artists of all levels, (even those who do not yet call themselves artist), from those who want to do their art, but have yet to take even one step, to those who are already on their creative paths. I transitioned from international journalist to fiction writer/visual artist, and I still feel the need to more fully own this creative power I can feel surging in my soul.
The more we align with our artistic calling, the more contentment we have, the greater our relationships, and I believe the more peace we generate in this fractured world.
When: Saturday, September 24, 2011, noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Dream Clinic, 902 NE 65th Street, Seattle WA 98115
Cost: $275 ($250 if paid by September 1)
Both workshops (see below): $375
Installment plans available.
Workshop: Write Out Loud
Stories are meant to be shared, exposed, aired. Writing is a solitary pursuit, and sometimes we’ll go months and years without sharing our work. How can we take our writing to the next level if we keep it private, share it with only a couple of people, if we don’t open up to an audience? What greater blessing than to come out of the poetic closet, to expose our literary selves, to sense how our words land with others, to profoundly share our truth.
In Write Out Loud, we’ll read our writing out loud, discuss and nurture the soul of the work, and get down to the basics of dialogue, structure, description and characterization. Participants will bring 5 to 10 pages of fiction, memoir, short story, screenplay or essay to the class. You will email me the writing beforehand, and I will provide photocopies for each person.
Don’t let reading to strangers scare you. We’ll create a supportive, nurturing, non-critical environment. I do ask that you be open to suggestions for improvement, but you will not be criticized for your work. I’m passionate about nurturing, cultivating and opening writers, not closing them down.
The class includes participant feedback. We’ll explore how to provide nonjudgmental, supportive, helpful suggestions to other writers. This is a skill that will serve you as a writer for years to come. Our goal is the greatest and highest writing good for all.
FREE OFFER: Included in the cost, I am offering as a coach to review 10 pages of your writing for free. This is a $200 value. I will review and comment on your fiction or nonfiction post-workshop via email (please allow up to a month after the workshop to receive your feedback).
Sometimes writing workshops can segue into writing groups. If participants are interested, and the energy feels right, we will voluntarily share our contact information and hope a writer’s group can form. Many of my classes have resulted in ongoing writer’s groups.
